Tour Description
Danube is the second longest river in Europe, it flows through territories of ten counties and it is a home of many ancient and modern civilizations. Serbian part of Danube valley makes beautiful combination of wild nature and important historical and economical assets. We will drive you east of Belgrade in direction of Romanian border to show you some of the most fascinating views that Serbia can offer and also some of the most beautiful and authentic historical sites in this part of Europe! We will drive for kilometers next to the river and trough Djerdap National park, a wonderful place dedicated to preservation of nature and rare species. Many places alongside the road are perfect for making photos that will always remind you on this exciting daytrip and also fascinate your family and friends on social networks. Golubac fortress, recently renovated, is the best preserved medieval fortification in Serbia and offers magnificent sights. Further up the road we will talk about Roman emperor Traian and his bitter enemy Decebal(us), King of Dacia, about how this part of Europe was conquered by the Romans. For the history lovers there is even more: the story of Zavis, the Black knight, Polish national hero and one of the bravest and most successful knights of late 14th and early 15th Century, and also the story of centuries-lasting love and friendship of Serbs and Romanians, a phenomena quite unusual in the Balkans. Indeed, this tour will take you even further in past, as we visit Lepenski vir, archeological site of Mesolithic Iron Gate Culture, one of the oldest and most progressive ancient European civilizations (dating 10.000–3500 B.C.). And when you get tired of history and beautiful nature, we will round up our excursion at Captain Misha’s hill, with a meal in one of the best restaurants observing the valley from above. If you are looking for a way to spend your day in Serbia researching fascinating nature and enriching yourself with monuments of history and culture from the long passed times, this tour is the right choice for you and will stick in your mind for quite some time!
